About the Authors. Sumit Ghosh is associate chair for research and graduate programs in the Computer Science and Engineering Department at Arizona State University. He is the author of Hardware Description Languages: Concepts and Principles (IEEE Press, 2000). Dr. Ghosh's research interests include areas such as: fundamental yet practical problems from the disciplines of asynchronous distributed algorithms; stability of complex asynchronous algorithms; networking; impact of topology on network performance; network security; modeling security attacks in ATM networks; deep-space networking; modeling and distributed simulation of complex systems; distributed resources allocations; and intelligent transportation. Tony S. Lee is a member of the technical staff at Vitria Technology. Dr. Lee developed the software program ATMsim: A Distributed ATM Network Simulator. His research interests include distributed resources allocation in networking, distributed algorithms and simulation, ATM networks, and quality of distributed decision-making systems.
